The entire experience was awesome! Gareth is passionate about his work & an excellent, caring communicator. He & his team showed up on time, were very respectful and got the job(s) done in one day. They cleaned up as they went & after they were done, even helping me put things back where they had been, and in one case in particular, better than it had been before.
The repairs, prep work & painting were completed to a high standard. Because the kitchen hadn't been painted in over 30 years, they did a chemical prewash to remove the grime, then a primer to transition to today's paint. Outstanding!
I would not hesitate having them back in the future or referring them to a friend. 

I would highly recommend The English Painter to anyone looking to have their home painted. Carol was super helpful in arranging an on-site quote as well as scheduling the work. She was extremely prompt and friendly. Gareth completed the work meticulously and quickly. The crew cleaned up at the end of each day - you hardly knew they were there. And the best part - the results. Beautiful:) I could not be happier and will definitely have them back in the Spring to do the exterior of our home.

I hired the English Painter to paint the interior of a recently purchased semi (excluding the basement and the trim), constructed in C. 1917. My goal for the project was to bring back some of the original colours to the house. I knew I would need a painter who believed in quality and was used to the older houses in the east end of Toronto. I do not believe I could have made a better choice than the English Painter. 

Gareth and his employees were knowledgeable, precise, and understood my goals with the project. Gareth even gave me several pieces of advice on where to find antique furniture to begin furnishing the house and doorknobs to complement the original door. They properly fixed a large section of cracked plaster in the hallway, and even took the time to investigate a possible water leak from the upstairs bathroom. A budget company would not take the time to do that, they would paint and leave without notifying the owner that there may be a more serious problem. Checking the leak was, to me, a mark of the quality of their character.

In short, if you want painters who are professional, experienced, and care about both you and the job, look no further. I would recommend Gareth to anyone in a heartbeat.

We had extensive wood refinishing work required on the exterior of our house, which is half brick and half cedar wood. After getting several quotes and speaking with various companies we settled on the English Painter. Their quote was fair and we felt good about Gareth who came to assess the job and give us a quote. We couldn’t be happier with the whole experience.  They sanded and applied 3 coats of Cetol protection and did exactly everything they promised to do for the quoted amount and even more, because they saw a couple of things that needed to be repaired. What company does that anymore???!!! They completed the work quickly without cutting corners on the quality of the work, and cleaned up everything so there was no garbage left behind. Most importantly, they are trustworthy – if they give you their word, there’s no doubt that they will do what they say. That's the toughest thing to screen for because everyone knows what you want to hear, it's a matter of whether they'll actually do what they say....we've been there before and have been taken advantage of by unscrupulous companies who don't stand behind what they say when they're trying to get your business. The English Painter was as far from that as you can be. Also, based on some repairs they did with replacing wood window frames and repairing cedar steps, I’m impressed with their woodworking quality and I’m looking for more jobs for them to do. Great company which I will take every opportunity to promote to friends and co-workers!

We were very happy with the English Painter's painting job in one of our bedrooms. Gareth also replaced with dry wall the the old plaster ceiling that had fallen down and even fixed a couple of doors. They did an excellent job of cleaning up all the plaster dust. Carol's response to inquiries ,setting dates and other arrangements were prompt and courteous. We have and would definitely

Gareth and his team did a beautiful job repainting the exterior of our brick house. They were extremely attentive to the details, reasonably priced and courteous. They carefully sanded down and prepped the brick and all surfaces filling gaps and even refinished and caulked our front window. They really went the extra mile. The final product is stunning. Hire them. You will not be disappointed.

The quote was fair. The crew was super nice, professional, and punctual. I had some crown moulding that needed to be installed, and Gareth was able to install it for us as well. The English Painter's were easy to work with--simply contacting Carol with details of what we needed done and our colour selections and then booking a date. We booked for our whole top floor and stairway. She was even able to squeeze in time to have some extra painting done on our main floor (the top floor looked so good, we had to continue!), working with our tight schedule. Gareth and his team arrived on time, took care to cover floors, remove blinds and curtains before starting. They worked diligently and completed ceilings, walls and trim beautifully and cheerfully. They were trustworthy and I have no problem recommending this company.
